The Nevada County Superintendent of Schools Office continues to
sponsor Mud Hut enrichment classes and field trips during school
hours. After-school, evening and weekend classes
are sponsored by ASIF.

Mud Hut Closure Notice

Dear Mud Hut Community,

The State of California has recently determined the Imaginarium and adjacent Mud Hut do not meet Field Act (earthquake) safety requirements for school use. Therefore, as of Dec. 18, 2009, the Mud Hut Ceramics Center must indefinitely suspend in-studio instruction for youths and schools. Most current and planned ceramics instruction will continue at AS • IF (Artists Studio in the Foothills) in Grass Valley, and in schools.

Instructors Denise Wey and Claudia Jeffers will soon notify students and their school about when and where ongoing classes will resume in January, 2010.

Nevada County Superintendent of Schools Office is proud of the arts education programs that it has provided students in Nevada County over the years. It is our goal to continue to provide these opportunities for students. We will be looking for more permanent solutions.
